A Prayer For The Way Forward

As one year softens into the next, many of us feel the invitation to pause, breathe, and gather ourselves again. To remember what matters. To tend to what is tender. To re-ground in what is true.

This is a prayer to accompany that invitation, and to hold you through the shifting, beautiful, uncertain landscape we live in.

For the part of you that is trying. For the part that is tired. For the part that still believes in softness, in goodness, in the possibility of a more human world.

Breathe in, feeling your aliveness. Breathe out clearing space to receive. And begin knowing whatever resonates is yours to keep.

A Prayer for the Way Forward

Let me love what is.
May my body feel safe enough
to delight in this life,
to soak in the sweetness of being here
in this skin,
with these beloveds,
for as long as we are given.

What I know to be true
is that I am trying.
What I know to be true
is that kindness softens me.
What I know to be true
is that when I offer kindness
others soften too.

May softness continue to bloom.
May understanding widen.
May kindness ripple through the world
like light on moving water.

May our children grow well
in their feelings,
in their bodies,
in their wild and tender nervous systems
so they become present,
kind,
and clear in the path their hearts choose.

May the animals live in fullness.
May the plants flourish.
May we move slowly enough
to listen to them
for they know the way.

May the oceans regain their strength.
May the rivers restore their dance.
May the soil,
and the quiet knowing in our chests,
and the deep roar in our guts
rekindle their alliance.
They know the way.

May you live well.
May I live well.
May I understand my place in this great weaving.
May I trust the great contradiction that
nothing here is passive
and nothing here is mine to control.

Life moves us,
breathes us,
opens and closes us
as she wishes,
as she remembers,
as she knows the way
the way of the heart,
the beauty way.

May I surrender to her ways.

Take another breath in, allowing these words to fully land, and slowly release the breath out, feeling into your body for the subtle shifts that are ready to be acknowledged.

If this prayer touched something in you, let it stay with you in whatever shape it wishes. Let the way forward, however it unfolds, feel just a little more possible, a little more human, a little more kind, and a little more connected.
