Here we are again. Our Adopt a family support has been running without interruption since March 2020 in order to support the Balinese community that suffered greatly from the outbreak of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And we still keep going, because now it is more important than ever!
Until today we have been able to support over 862 Balinese families from all over the island with food packages to ensure basic needs.
With Bali having been in lockdown since early July due to a strong rise of positive cases of the Coronavirus throughout the entire of Indonesia we see our beautiful Bali home and its wonderful people at a painstakingly high risk of losing more of their lives and livelihood to the consequences and repercussions of this pandemic. It feels heartbreaking and leaves us feeling helpless and sad for this beautiful country we live in.
Not only has tourism been basically non-existent in the past 18 months, but with the implementation of new regulations throughout Indonesia the island has become now even more quiet and empty. A lot of local businesses continue to close, leaving even more people loosing their jobs and local families finding theirselves struggling to feed their families.
Adopt a community!
In our last update we shared our plan to expand our support towards the more remote areas and villages of the island of Bali, instead of circling back to areas that have a higher density of potential tourism and expats. This particularly affects the villages in the North and East of Bali. Last June we delivered our food packages to the families around the region of Mount Agung, Bali's biggest volcano to support the local communities that have been struggling immensely, not only since the outbreak of Covid-19, but also since Mount Agung's latest activities in 2017.
We are now looking at optimising and maximising our outputs in order to be able to support entire villages and communities rather than only selected families who have been in need the most. At this point in time the situation in Bali has deteriorated to such an extent that there is no room for choice, neither would it feel appropriate given the current situation.
Bali needs your support
The livelihood of the communities in these regions is at stake. The food that is meant to land on their tables isn’t available to them anymore.
We are therefore reaching out to our community for further support and donations. If there is a dime to spare or you'd like more information, please head over to our website for further information.
Please stay connected via Instagram and Newsletter to learn more about our 'Adopt a Family' project.
Our project will be going on for an indefinite amount of time. If you feel called to support our cause, head over to our donation page for a contribution or simply fall in love with one of our pieces as 10% of all proceeds flow into our Adopt a family project.
Thank you, we would have not been able to do this without you!
