Perhaps it makes sense that a metal so reflective and luminous has gathered so much symbolism across cultures and centuries.
In ancient Egypt, silver was at times considered more precious than gold and became associated with the goddess Isis. In Greek mythology, its lunar qualities connected it with Artemis, goddess of the moon, while across later folklore and spiritual traditions, silver became associated with protection, intuition and the unseen.
But it is silver’s relationship with the moon that I find especially beautiful.
Across cultures, the two have long been intertwined, carrying associations with intuition, femininity, mystery, reflection and the shifting nature of things.
Silver seems to hold both.
Light and shadow. Softness and strength. The known and the unknown.
Perhaps that is why these pieces feel so different in silver. The symbols haven’t changed, but somehow, another part of them comes forward.
